Why Most Goals Don’t Last (How to Make 2016 Your Best Year Yet)
You know the few people who set goals every year, and always seem to accomplish more than everyone else? I always wondered what they did differently than me.
For most of my life, my story was just like yours—I set goals with the intention of accomplishing every one.
Each year, I'd think,
This is the year I'm going to lose weight, spend more time with my family, and make enough money to pay off my debt!
And before I knew it, the year was over. I was no closer to my goal than I had been twelve months before.
Why is it that goals don't seem to last?
Last year, I learned something new when I took the 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever course.
First off, I learned that I'm not alone.
92% of people fail to meet their goals ever year, and they'll go on to set the same goals ten separate times in their life.
There are three key explanations for why you typically don't achieve a well-intentioned goal:
- You’re not invested enough. You know you want to lose weight or make more money―but you haven't taken the time to spell out in detail what you'll experience if you succeed (or if you fail).
- You’re not truly challenged. Losing ten pounds would be great for your health, but in your head you know it’s easy―so you put it off. When you’re not truly challenged, you don’t bring your best to the fight.
- You don’t revisit your goals. The few times you’ve set a goal, you may have written it down or told someone―but did you revisit that goal regularly, or mark your progress throughout the year?
In hindsight, it seems so obvious. Each of these reasons makes total sense.
“Make a progress a priority, and 2016 will become your best year yet.”
5 Days to Your Best Year Ever is the goal program that addresses each of these needs.
It's basically a course on how to become a high achiever, from Michael Hyatt (one of the highest achievers I know).
Over five video lessons, Michael shares a step-by-step system he’s used for decades to set and achieve incredible goals every year.
Get the early bird pricing (like me) if you register before midnight on Friday, December 17th.
Each exercise is designed to help you get clear on your motivation and dream big enough to set challenging goals.
Setting small goals is a huge mistake. You’ll either procrastinate until the end of the year or finish your goal right away and then just coast for any months left in 2016.
One course option even includes monthly coaching videos, a private community, and quarterly check-ins―where you can measure your progress, so you never lose sight of your goal.
I have friends in the Best Year Ever community who have lost nearly 100 pounds, pulled off $100k product launches, and gone on adventures they'd only dreamed of before.
I’m inspired by their stories. I’ve had my own success, but now I’m even more prepared for 2016.
