Time to Breathe

I'm getting married one month from today. On January 12, 2014, Rachel Loftin will become Rachel Meese and we will spend the rest of our lives together. Crazy, isn't it? The reality is just now catching up to me.

I've been keeping extra busy of late with work, writing projects, wedding planning, and more, but it's time to take a break and just breathe.

Today I had a long list of to-do items, and I was ready to tackle them all (so I thought), but I didn't. I took the day off work, caught up on some sleep and a little reading, and spent some quality time with my soon-to-be-wife. And you know what? It was totally worth it.

Starting tomorrow I'm spending a few days at a monastery in West Virginia to rest my mind, body, and spirit in preparation for the next huge milestone of my life: Marriage.

It's not enough just to get plenty of sleep, keep busy, or stay focused, there's a type of rest and motivation that can only come from a time of peace and prayer. That's what I'm making time for this weekend.

Question: Have you made time to breathe this year?
